I woke up at 5:30a. Too early! Nick was ready to be picked up for his Sauvie half marathon. Jen came over at 7:30 and we drove over to see Nick finish the race. The weather was perfection and we were so happy to celebrate our free day in the cool morning sunshine, surrounded by farmland and supportive spectators. Nick saw us as he neared the finish line and waved at us. He liked that we came.

The afternoon was spent with Jen at the house she is sitting. Lying outside in the breeze and warm sun was the best holiday I could imagine. The cat wandered on and around us from time to time but I managed a little nap and my art for the day. Plus, more grilling. Chicken!

Now the sound of fireworks trickles in through the windows and I am ready for bed. Shhhhh.
