Nick ran 9 miles in Sunday's Shamrock Run. An 8:33 pace! We bussed it downtown and I parted with him before the race started. I walked to Peets and had a delicious americano, read a little of Swamplandia! and walked back in the drizzle. Last year I cheered and clapped from the moment I saw the first runner come in. This year I clapped and yelled twice, then settled into watching only. It was so much better this time. Once I saw Nick's face we met up and walked most of the way home before hopping on the streetcar. A bagel toasted with butter, home, breakfast out.

F1 started this weekend and it looks like a more exciting race season that last year. I am always happy to see my favorite drivers and listen to the trio of commentators. Seeing other countries from afar and feeling the tension of the race reminds me that I want to see more, in person. Go!
