"Do you want to go somewhere?"
"Where?"
"I don't know. Anywhere."
"Mmmm, okay."

Nick and I left the house at 8 this evening, skip-bo in hand, ready to try a new cafe, bar, whatever. We followed our inner guidance system and picked "left" "left" "left" "straight" "right" going where our little hearts wanted us to. After passing through several neighborhoods across the river and finding nowhere to stop I said,
"I like driving around. This could be our night."
"Me too but I would like it more if I had a baja blast."
Nick loves driving, drink at the ready. Especially Mt. Dew products.
He sees a Plaid Pantry, stops.
We both get out and pull on the doors. Chained!
We drive around more. He says,
"I could go for an apple fritter."
He sees a 7/11. There are people inside so we know it is open. On our way to the soda wall I see, yes(!) and apple fritter in the donut case. Nick picks his soda (red) and tries to convince me not to get the tacky-certain-to-be-dry fritter. I get it. It is not terrible.
Driving, driving we end up back at our regular routes are and Nick gets antsy. It is hard to follow our intuitive directions when we really know where we are going.
