We have arrived!Nick and I left Iowa 2 weeks ago (exactly) and arrived in Oregon after 3.5 days of Driving Across America. We saw the Corn Palace, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, lots of cows, lots of land, and lots of each other. We ate road food: nuts, jerky, mandms, soda, and gum.
We ate mediocre travel food on I-90 pit stops. The beauty of this country makes me so happy.
I want to drive six-seven hours every day, looking and watching. Upon arrival we shared Grandma K's house. After the adjustment period (1-2 days) things went very well. We laughed, ate out a lot, smelled of smoke, watched her shows (and ours), did some housework, looked for our own place, connected again. Nick and I searched and searched for a house - we wanted a house - for 2 full days to no avail. The houses were too small, no parking, no laundry, too dirty -
any number of things. But...with a break on Sunday and after phone calls Monday morning,
we entered our new home, looked all around, and thought, "Very nice." We talked, prayed,
and decided, "Yes. We want it." We are home!
