Nick and I are back from our 2nd annual Colorado vacation:
arrival, last week - Wednesday - 11pm.This year we took our sweet time about it,
stayed in 3 different hotels (one twice),
and pitched our tent in 3 different campsites.
Kansas City (Westin)
Colorado Springs (Comfort Inn)
Crags (my favorite camp name) campground
Breckenridge (The Lodge at...)
Peaceful Valley campground - it was kind of peaceful.
Olive Ridge campground (our only repeat, space 24)
Back to Breckenridge (The Lodge)
Oh, lodging!
We can pitch our entire camp in 30 minutes. A breeze. As for Things We Did On Vacation, there are tons.
Since I am 6 days removed from vacation, here is a quick list.
Garden of the Gods
Drive to the tip top of Pikes Peak
Cripple Creek
(mining town, gambling, etc...not really the best choice)
Rafting in the Rapids
(intermediate level, my first time, no tipping over!)
Sand Dunes National Park
Hiked to waterfalls
Hiked to (almost) the keyhole on Longs Peak
(it took from 5a - 10:15a to get to the Boulder field;
then we came down)
9 hours is a LONG hike, but pretty worth it.

As soon as we leave Denver it is a mountainless, hot road.
At 2p, I became very cranky and restless, threatening punching,
squirming, asking for water, trying to sleep in the backseat, etc.
The halfway point of a 13 hour trip seems to be my breaking point.
I got over it,
drove a little,
and when we were an hour
from home,
we stopped in a corn field to enjoy the August Meteor Shower.
I saw 4-5 shooting stars!
One for every Amazing Time I had in Colorado, on vacation with Nick.
