Vernonia park
What our space looked like; drinks, blankets, books
Graceful timed photo of cartwheel landings
Cabin camping was a success. Usually Nick handles the final packing check, the fire, the food, all things necessary while I set the table, make the mattress, sit around. I wanted to camp without him to see that I could. While he was in Mexico, Jen and I headed for the woods.
What I learned:
making a fire is easy . . . and I want morning fire, too
our camp stove cooks quickly
it is nice having a sous chef
Animals we saw while Out:
caterpillar / slugs - in the morning, after night rain / ducks / a rabbit / deer - 3+
The stars were sharp and bright the first night; we sat by our fire as our neighboring family of four sang campfire songs. I woke on Night Two, unable to sleep for two hours, listening to thunder and rain. We woke at 7, left at 8, drove to Camp 18 for breakfast and watched the mist rise through the mountains.
Nick's time away flew by while Jen and I played.
Is my Solo Camp going to include a tent? Maybe . . .
