Ash.
I just finished processing our St Helen photos. It took 2 hours to get there and 2 to get back and we still had lots of time left when we got back. Mt St Helen erupted 30 years ago this month.
The land still displays evidence of the ash and disruption. I love the picture of dead tree stumps - so stark. Today, though, I made cookies using ground walnuts as a partial substitute for flour.
The cookies are so flat! But still tasty.
