On Saturday, I found a bat in a ceramic canister in the basement. I was on the phone and noticed it out of the corner of my blue eye. I doubled back to check and yes, it was a bat. I walked upstairs pretty calmly and went to Nick. He was on the computer. "There is a bat downstairs." Nick took a towel to cover the canister and put the whole thing out on the back lawn, tipped for the bat's convenience. Nicely done, nicely done. He went back out 30 minutes later and the bat had managed to move a few inches past the lip and onto the grass. Everything is clean again and no more animals are allowed.
